ETHICAL GUIDELINES
Sun Yoga was conceived out of my genuine desire to impart the gift of yoga to women and men from all walks of life. Yoga has been a gift to me, and I thank my teachers humbly for giving me the gift of yoga. It is my wish to pass on this gift that had led me to start Sun Yoga with my friend, confidante and support, Adam Wilkinson.
To propagate and promote wider group consciousness, yoga classes and teacher-training courses have been designed and implemented under the Sun Yoga name. Sun Yoga had reached many people through international workshops and courses, offering scholarships to students in need. Sun Yoga had also trained teachers to take yoga into British Schools, in accordance to the British National Curriculum. Today, Sun Yoga’s curriculum is taught in many schools in several countries in the world.
Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga is the soul of the school. It is my vision, as Founder and Director, to create a sangha based on these paths and a strong teaching tradition, which honours yoga’s ancient roots as well as celebrates its role in the modern world.
ETHICAL GUIDELINES
VISION:
Creating a sangha based on the teachings of yoga
* [sang-ha: community dedicated to serving the spirit]
MISSION STATEMENT:
- To provide trainee teachers, students and participants with a strong grounding in the basics, an understanding of the rich history and an appreciation that yoga is more than just the physical.
- Delivering value to all who walk through these doors –
- participants will leave workshops and courses with a sense of being enriched spiritually
- students will be guided to a path of bliss through physical and spiritual practice of yoga
- trainee teachers will be given the support and encouragement to join us in this dharma.
- Continuing the support – at Sun Yoga, a class/course/workshop does not finish when the hour is up. Our responsibility to our student teachers continues into their career.
- True to the teachings of yoga – In order to survive and to thrive, Sun Yoga needs to generate revenues, but there will be fairness and transparency in all our charges.
- There is no discrimination, whether sex, race, gender, or age at Sun Yoga. There is no allegiance to any religion in our teachings. Yoga is about finding that quiet space inside yourself, for you to find your own God/Consciousness/Infinite Being. We welcome all to be part of our dharma.
- As part of Sun Yoga, it is your requirement to honour, embrace and practice the spirit and soul of yoga as it is embodied at Sun Yoga .
