INTERVIEW WITH A SUN YOGA TEACHER

Matthew Chapple (Yoga Alliance RYT 200 Hours Teacher)

Why did you take up yoga and where did you start?
I was interested in finding ways to relax both mentally and physically.

How do you think yoga fits into the cut-throat business environment, where 'Time is Money' and getting to the top of the tree means everything?
In all facets of life, business included, one faces many challenges everyday. This IS life! Rarely are we given the tools to deal with these challenges constructively so they tends to manifest in things like anger, aversion, exhaustion OR we "shock absorb them with "crutches" like over eating, infidelity, alcohol, or even drugs.

For me the techniques, tools and philosophy of yoga are the most constructive and practical tools I've found far to deal with these challenges. Of course, this is why things like yoga and meditation are becoming so popular and mainstream nowadays. In fact I discovered meditation as part of my MBA program at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania in the U.S. where it was taught as part of their leadership program to help future leaders develop self awareness.

If you can sum yoga up in three words, what will it be?
Peace, happiness, equanimity
