PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS

For Schools and Pre-Schools

Sun Yoga Kids is a joyous, heart-led yoga course that trains parents, teachers and carers to bring yoga to children of all ages. Designed initially to meet the requirements of the British National Curriculum, the syllabus has now been expanded to meet the needs of its international teachers. Portions of this course have been presented at the Head Start Annual Conferences in Indianapolis and Nashville.

The Professional Development Series have three levels:

  • Level 1
  • Level 2
  • Level 3

Each level takes six hours to complete, and has its own Competencies & Learning Objectives. Completion of all three levels lead to certification as a Sun Yoga Kids Teacher.

 

The Levels

Note : the levels have to be taken sequentially.

 

LEVEL 1 – one day (six hours)

  • Incorporating yoga into the activities you already do with children (e.g. circle time)
  • Using Yoga as a tool for Classroom management.
  • Learning to teach classical yoga postures safely to children
  • Understanding and applying yoga philosophy
  • Developing your own practice

LEVEL 2 – one day (six hours)

  • Addressing special needs through yoga
  • Sensory Integration through Yoga
  • Sensory Diet for the Classroom
  • Behavior Management the Yoga way

LEVEL 3 – one day (six hours)

  • Designing a yoga class to support classroom curriculum
  • Implementing yoga throughout the whole school
  • Deepening your practice

 

Certificate with a breakdown of hours will be provided to each participant at the completion of each level. To be awarded the Sun Yoga Kids Teacher’s Certificate, students will have to complete a six-hour assignment and a teaching practice (practicum). E-mentoring will be provided.

 

Further developments

The Sun Yoga Kids Teacher’s Certificate counts as 20 credit hours towards Sun Yoga’s 200 Hours Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200) Program, which is accredited by Yoga Alliance USA.

 

Further development is also provided in the form of the 500 Hour Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Course which is accredited by Yoga Alliance USA.

Cost of program:

One day (6 hours)

For up to 30 participants with one trainer providing training on-site:

U$1,000 excluding materials (U$10 per participant) and travel costs

 

For over 30 participants with two trainers providing training on-site

U$2,000 excluding materials (U$10 per participant) and travel costs
